st - simple terminal

st is a simple terminal emulator for X which sucks less. Though it works find in Wayland as well (with XWayland mind you :-) ).

Main differences with normal branch:

  • patched to have scrollback with basic mousewheel function (Shift+Mousewheel)
  • patched to support old schoool clipboard interaction - in Wayland this does not work well, yet
  • fonts now scale to match Xorg screen DPI
  • Personalisation of config.def.h

In order to build st you need the Xlib header files.

Edit config.mk to match your local setup (st is installed into the /usr/local namespace by default).

Afterwards enter the following command to build and install st (if necessary as root):

make clean install

Additionally I have created a PKGBUILD under archlinux/ for building and installing on ArchLinux.

Running st

If you did not install st with make clean install, you must compile the st terminfo entry with the following command:

tic -sx st.info

See the man page for additional details.
